Polar Express

Back in the 2nd week of December we took our annual trip on the Polar Express. This year we went with our friends the Millers, the McCleves, & the Johnsons. A few days before we went up there Flagstaff got a TON of snow! It made for an awesome trip because it felt that much more like Christmas. Natalie LOVED playing in all the snow & Alexis was her normal mellow self & just hung out. We had a great time & can't wait until next year!

Christmas Tree

This year we decided to try to cut down our own Christmas tree. We went with our friends the Millers up north to find our tree. It was definitely an experience! Natalie loved every minute...Alexis looked like the kid from a Christmas story. Her hat was too big so you can barely see her little face (which also made it hard to walk), I couldn't get her mittens though the arm holes because they were too big as well, & I decided to try a new pair of shoes on her that she has never walked with. Alexis couldn't move so she wasn't very happy with us. Even with Alexis being miserable she wasn't that bad & it was a fun experience!

Halloween 2009

Our Halloween started by going to a party & parade at Natalie's school. It is always fun to see Natalie interacting with all of her school friends. Friday night we had a family Halloween party to attend so I dressed up as Dorothy. Let me tell you how hard it was to find an adult women's costume that was appropriate to wear! I had only 2 options so I went with Dorothy since my hair would work best with that costume. Natalie picked out her Sleeping Beauty costume & my friend Christine let me borrow Addison's old Tinkerbell costume. Since it was cool out on Friday night I put Alexis in Natalie's old lamb costume. Both the girls looked adorable in all their costumes! Then on Halloween we went trick or treating with our friends the Edwards. Kyan was a monkey so I took him up to some of the doors as my flying monkey from The Wizard of Oz.

California Trip

We wanted to see Disneyland decorated for Halloween so we took the girls to Cali in the middle of Oct. We then found out that the Dodgers were in the playoffs & there was a home game the Friday we were going to be in Cali. Since we have never been to a playoff game & I have never been to Dodger stadium we got tickets to the game. It was an awesome experience & it was the only game the Dodgers won against the Phillies during the playoffs so it was fun to be there. It was cool to see my Aunt Mary, Uncle Louis & cousin Tara at the game because they are HUGE Dodger fans!

On Saturday & Sunday we spent all day at Disneyland. Alexis was a lot more into Disney than I thought she would be at this age. She enjoyed going on the rides & I could tell she understood what was going on because she was laughing & pointing at stuff. She also wasn't scared of the characters! Natalie of course couldn't have been happier. The last time we went she got into pin trading so she had a great time doing that again. She even got Bryan into it too! On Saturday we mostly tried to do rides & on Sunday we went looking for characters. We loved all the Halloween decorations & the Halloween fireworks show is probably the best we have EVER seen! Cant really say enough about Disney because always have a great time.

Pumpkin Patch

My friend Amy and I took our kids for our yearly trip to the pumpkin patch. We went to the same farm as last year & the kids had a great time. It really makes me want to build a pit of corn in our backyard because again it was their favorite part! Every time we have an event like this I realize how hard it is to get good pics of my girls together. Oh well at least they are in the pictures together so we know they were both there :-)

On Oct 4th Aunt Jeannie gave Alexis her 1st haircut! At first Alexis did really well. No crying, just sat there. I don't know if she suddenly realized what was going on, but then she didn't want anything to do with it! She looked really cute once it was over, but we didnt get any pics of the end result!

Trip To New York

For our 30th birthdays, my Dad surprised us with a trip to New York. We were able to see almost all of my family that lives there, went to a Yankees game, went to Times Square, played on the beach, & spent time with my Dad. The girls were both so good on the flights & we had a great trip.

Natalie's 1st day of school

Back in August Natalie started school again. This will be Natalie's last year of Preschool then it is off to Kindergarten next year! She is going Monday - Friday every morning and has been really enjoying it. She is only 1 of 2 girls in the class..the rest are boys. I was worried about that at first but Natalie doesn't mind..she will play with anyone!

Portland Trip

I know it has been a LONG time since I updated our blog so I have A LOT of stuff to post. Here are pictures from our trip to Portland we took in July. Portland is BEAUTIFUL!! We were able to go to see waterfalls, the beach, the Tillamook cheese factory, breweries, the Zoo, and had a great time with Ian & Cortney. After spending time there we can see why Ian & Cortney moved to Oregon.

Our "Staycation"

Last weekend we went to a phoenix resort for a "staycation." We stayed at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Friday & Sat nights. The resort was really nice and we had a great time with the McCleves! The resort is built into the mountain (hence the name of the place) so it was a bit of a hike to our room & parking was interesting. The kids all had fun swimming together in the pools & Alexis & Gauge did really well for their ages. The only downside was the one water slide they had was completely enclosed so it was too scary for Addison & Natalie to go on. They wouldn't let parents ride with the kids so they didn't get to go on the slide. I don't think the girls really minded so it worked out.

Unfortunately Bryan had to work all weekend including father's day. Bryan's grandparents were in town from Bullhead so we went to Susan & Corky's Fri, Sat, & Sun. Natalie got to swim everyday which made her happy! After Bryan got off work yesterday we spent the day in the pool hanging out. It was a nice relaxing day & it was fun to spend time with family. For father's day I had a landscaper come over & clean up the front & backyard so Bryan didn't have worry about it anymore. I was really proud of myself for coming up with that idea & not letting Bryan know ahead of time. Usually Bryan always figures out what I am getting him because I am horrible @ keeping secrets. Bryan said he was surprised & it was a great gift so mission accomplished!

Swim Lesson Pictures

Bryan was able to go watch swim lessons this past week so he took some pictures. Alexis is still doing so great! I think her favorite part is hanging on the wall, but she lets me do all the exercises. Natalie has already shown some improvement in the few weeks we have been back @ Hubbard. She is trying to do the actual strokes and is swimming on her stomach more often (rather than her back or underwater). It will be interesting to see where they both are at when the summer is over.

Boat Time

Yesterday we took the boat out for the first time this season. This also was Alexis' first trip to the lake and we had PERFECT weather! We had a rough start, but once we got out there it was a great day. Natalie has no fear & definitely is not a wimp with cold water like her mom. Once we stopped the boat & told her it was time to swim she would jump off the side even if we weren't in the water. She would then start swimming laps around the boat. Bryan always got in the water with her because it was to cold for me. Alexis is the most mellow baby ever. She just lets us take her anywhere and has a fun time watching what is going on around her!

Yesterday was a very busy day for us. We started the day by going to Addison's 5th birthday party at Build-A-Bear. Natalie has never done a Build-A-Bear and she had a lot of fun with it! She picked a bunny & Christine helped her pick a really cute pink dress. Happy Birthday Addison!!

At the party I was talking to Christine about wanting to do a weight check on Alexis. She recommened a store I could to go to have it done for free. I took Alexis to the store & she now weighs 15 lbs 1 oz. So in 5 weeks she hasnt lost any, but she really has not gained any either. We are going to wait until the end of the month and check it again.

After the weight check we went over to Amy's house to play with Madison. Natalie was really excited to play with Madison & they had a lot of fun together. We ended up taking a walk/hike by Amy's house. Both the girls did really well hiking to the top of the mountain. It was a beautiful view!

10 Month Photos

On Thursday we had Alexis' 10 month professional photos taken. They should have been 9 month photos, but it seems like I am always a month behind with getting her pics done. She did pretty well, but she will not smile when other people are around! She doesn't cry, but she just will look at the camera and that is about it. It made things easy in the end because there wasn't very many poses to choose from. We got a good photo of her to mark this age for her baby book and that was the goal so I was happy. We also got a cute pic of both the girls & a pic of her in her baptism dress. I am hoping as she gets older she wont be as shy!

Gymnastics

Natalie is going to be a very busy girl this summer! Today we did a gymnastics trial class to see if Natalie would like it. Erin had already signed Lexi up so Natalie was in Lexi's class. Well Natalie loved it!! I was interested to see how it went because they had gymnastics once a week at preschool and Natalie didn't seem too interested. She could really take it or leave it. Well today was different..she listened to instructions, tried to do all the moves, and asked if she could do it again when the class was over. The only thing she didn't really care for was the stretching, but I hate that too! Now that I know how the class goes, I will try to get better pics next time but here are a few from today.

Swim Lessons

Today we started swim lessons again. We had taken a 5 month break from Natalie's lessons & today was Alexis' first lesson. Natalie was her normal fish self..it was as if we never took a break. I was really curious to see how Alexis would react and she did AWESOME!!! She didn't cry, she let the teacher use her as an example, & she even hung on the wall all by herself. I was so proud of her today! Alexis' teacher is one of Natalie's old teachers and she couldn't get over how much Alexis & Natalie look alike. It seems Alexis also has Natalie's love of the water so I hope the lessons keep going as well as Natalie's did way back when!

Diamondbacks Game

Today we went to the Diamondbacks game with our friends the Flint's. This was Natalie's second game ever, but the first for Jackson & Alexis. We started the day by getting Natalie's face painted, which we have never done before. It actually lasted the whole day! During the 4th inning we took the kids over to see Baxter the Diamondback's mascot. Natalie & Jackson were very excited to see him until it was our turn to get pictures. Natalie was ok as long as she wasn’t next to Baxter, but Jackson didn’t want to see him. They opened a kid’s playground with slides so we took them up there next. We finally got back to our seats to watch more of the game! Alexis was a great baby and such a trooper...I don’t think she cried once! On Sundays after the game they let the kids run the bases so it was awesome to be able to go onto the field. Natalie started off great, but then she got dirt in her shoes so she walked the rest of the way. We had a great day & we definitely want to do it again this season.

Long Month of May

May was a long and stressful month for us! Let's start with Natalie..

Her surgery went very well and it was easy to keep her calm the first day & a half, but after that I spent my time making sure she wasn’t running, jumping, climbing, etc. That was hard to do for a 4 year old!!! It has now been almost 3 weeks and she is back to normal. Her belly button looks great and we got to go swimming again last weekend since it had been 2 weeks. She had her end of the year school party on Friday May 15th. Each class put on a performance and her class sang 2 songs. Natalie actually sang the songs and did the movements that went with them. She had fun at the party but since it was the same week of the surgery we had to keep a close eye on her to make sure she was taking it easy. The last day of school was Wed. May 20th and her class had a pizza party. Each student got a certificate and the kids had fun playing with each other one last time before the start of summer.

An Alexis update...

At the beginning of May we had Alexis' 9 month check up. At the time of the appointment she had lost weight from her 6 month appt (she only weighs 14 lbs 12 oz now), she couldn’t sit up on her own, couldn’t crawl and didn’t want to bear weight on her legs. At the appointment the doctor told us he was going to have someone to come out to evaluate her because he was concerned about her physical development. Thankfully, all of her mental developments are on track. He also wanted us to try to fatten her up so over the past month we have been feeding her a lot. I have also been trying to get her on formula, but that has not gone well at all. Of course a few days after the appointment she started sitting up on her own & army crawling. I guess she just needed us to be freaked out to show off what she can do! Now she is all over the house crawling after me. A week after the appt she also started to bear weight on her legs. So the week of Natalie's surgery we get a call from the people the doctor called to evaluate the baby. We find out that they are from Cerebral Palsy of Arizona. So of course I start stressing thinking the doctor thinks Alexis was showing signs of this! They couldn't come out for about a week & a half so I was going out of my mind watching every move Alexis made wondering if there was something wrong. It wouldn’t make us love her any less, but I wanted to know what was going on with my baby. The evaluator came out end of last week, asked a lot of questions and had Alexis do lots of exercises to see what she can do (THANKS Erin for watching Natalie during this so I could focus on Alexis). Once the evaluator went through her paperwork she determined Alexis is a bit behind for babies her age, but not showing signs of a disability at this point. The only thing they would like to see her doing at this point is crawling up to something and pulling her self up. They said if she is not doing this the month after her 1st birthday to call and they will come evaluate her again. We were very relieved to have this over with and I felt like I could breathe again! Alexis is a really good baby and LOVES watching Natalie.

We are glad the month of May is coming to an end and are looking forward the the adventures of the summer!

Memorial Day Fun

Since both of our husbands worked on Memorial Day, Erin, the girls & Garrett came over to play. She brought a pool & a slip & slide. The girls had a great time playing in the water while the babies took naps. Everyday since Monday Natalie has played with the slip & slide!

Natalie's Surgery

Today was Natalie's surgery on her umbilical hernia. We had to be at the hospital at 6:30 am and the surgery was scheduled for 8:30 am. Natalie was really apprehensive when we 1st got there and were waiting to go up the the surgical floor. We had never had any experience with the hospital Banner Thunderbird, but they were great. The nurses we had were VERY kid friendly and after spending 10 mins with them Natalie was at ease. When they brought her back to put her under the nurse came out telling us she had them all laughing. The surgery took about 30 mins and after about 15 mins we were brought back to see her. She was still out, but they told us she had started stirring. She woke up a couple of time saying her tummy hurt so they gave her some pain meds. Finally at about 10:15 she was wake enough to get changed into her PJs and we took her home. Since we have been home she hasn't left the couch--I don't remember the last time she has stayed in one place for that long! They told us because of the tube down her throat she would be a bit sore so she could have popsicles or ice cream. Natalie has been loving that! Natalie's friend Lexi stopped by for a few mins after school to bring her a chocolate puppy. Erin had all the kids in Nat's class sign a get well card for her...so cute! Thanks Erin for thinking of our Nat!!

We are so proud of Natalie today..she was so brave & acted like such a big girl! It was really hard on us since this was the first time she had ever been put under so we are happy it is over!

Mother's Day

Yesterday I had a really nice Mother's day. It started by me sleeping in!! That was the best gift! Then we had a relaxing day by the pool at Susan's house. Susan & Corky were in Bullhead so it was just the 4 of us spending the day together. Natalie of course was swimming around like the fish she is & Alexis did really well....until we put her under. We are just trying to get her ready to keep up with her sis! Because of all the swimming Natalie & Alexis were sleeping by 7ish. Bryan then went grocery shopping so I didn't have to worry about it during the week. Thanks for a great day Bryan & my girls!

Today is our 6 year wedding anniversary! Last night we went out to dinner without the girls for the 1st time since Alexis was born. For our anniversary gift to each other we got the washer & dryer that we have wanted. Maybe more me than Bryan, but still a joint gift! :-)

Last Sunday we finally had Alexis' baptism. It was a beautiful day and we thank everyone who came! We are very lucky to have my Aunt Mary & Cousin Sean as Alexis' godparents. We know they both will do a great job and we are honored they accepted our request!

Unfortunately the day before the baptism I started feeling sick. By the day of the baptism I was really sick and ended up getting strep throat & an ear infection. Then Wednesday I got pink eye as well & by Thursday I had that stomach bug going around. Needless to say it was an awful week over here! The only good thing is that Bryan and the girls have not gotten sick.

I have been meaning to take Alexis for her 6 month photos, but never got around to it. Last Thursday we ended up getting 7 month photos of Alexis & Natalie's 4 year photos. Alexis is much more serious than Natalie was, but still very cute. She really didn't want to give one of her big smiles, but at least she wasn't crying the whole time. Natalie did great and we are happy with the photos of both girls!

Playgroup Friends

As many of you know we started Natalie in swim lessons when she was about 11 months old. We already knew the Millers, but during those first few months we met the Johnsons & the Flints. Amy asked all of us if we wanted to start a playgroup and we have been friends ever since. We cant get together as much as we used to because of school, but all the kids were at Natalie's party. I remember when they all were babies! Look how much they have all grown.....

I can't believe our little girl is 4!!! Saturday was Natalie's birthday and she had a great couple of days. Friday I brought cupcakes to her class & she got a special hat to wear while the class sang to her. Saturday was her party and we had it at a indoor bounce place. The party place has 2 rooms & for some reason Natalie hated the first room, but once we switched rooms she had a great time. Even the adults had a great time on the bouncers! Finally that night we had a family dinner at Red Robin & Natalie thought she was so special because they sang to her. I think when she turns 5 I am going to cry!

Wacky Wednesday

Last Wednesday in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday Natalie's preschool did wacky Wednesday. Natalie's outfit was the best I could do in the wacky department. It was really hard for me to let her out of the house wearing her outfit & truthfully it wasn't even that bad. When I started doing her hair I was going to leave all the pieces up in the air, but it was bugging me too much. So I got my inspiration from Christine doing Nat's hair in Cali, but left the back sticking out. I got lots of compliments on Natalie's hair that day and people asking how I did it. WHAT?? It was supposed to be wacky!

Alexis is done with her helmet!! She has grown out of the 1st helmet & she did so well that they do not recommend a 2nd helmet! She was so cute because once we put her in the car seat without the helmet she kept shaking her head back & forth & trying to lift her head so the back wouldn't touch the car seat. All afternoon she just kept moving her head all around.

It is different seeing her without the helmet & I think she looks smaller now! With or without the helmet I think she is a cutie...

Now we just have to wait for her hair to grow back where the helmet rubbed it off.

Yesterday the McCleves welcomed their new baby boy to their family! His name is Gauge & he was born at 6:11 pm. He was 21 inches long & weighed 9lbs 5ozs!! I give Christine all the credit in the world for giving birth to over a 9lbs baby!!! Mom & baby are doing great and Gauge is adorable.

Girl Scout Cookies

Anyone who knows me knows that I am not really a big sweets person. Well ever since Alexis was born I crave cookies! First it was Oreo, then it was fresh baked chocolate chip, & now Girl Scout Cookies! The Do-Si-Dos® ones are my favorite and I have already gone through a box! Of course now every where we go we see these cookies. When is cookie season done??? Hopefully soon because eating all these cookies sure isn't helping me lose the rest of the baby weight!

Wildlife World Zoo

On Thursday we checked out the Wildlife World Zoo out in Litchfield Park. We were excited to go to this zoo because they just opened an aquarium and Natalie loved the aquarium in Hawaii. Well at the last minute Bryan could not join us but we had plans to meet out friends the Proctors. Let me start by saying we had a great time with our friends & Natalie loved playing with the boys. However, I don't think we will be going back to this zoo. 1st off, it was $37 for the admission for myself & Natalie (this included a coupon that I got in the mail). So once in the zoo I thought it would be like Out of Africa in Prescott where the animals are a lot closer than at the regular zoo...nope. I then thought well there are other things to do like a train, a carousal, sky ride, & log ride so those must be included in the price...nope. They did have a giraffe feeding which all the kids loved, but otherwise I felt like I was at an expensive Phoenix Zoo. The aquarium was neat, but not enough to warrant spending that much money. We did get our money worth in time though..we got there at 10:30 am and left a little after 5:00 pm. Alexis and I were done by the end of the day, but we made it to the end. If it were not for the Proctors being there I would have been VERY disappointed. So if any of you were thinking of making the drive out there, I wouldn't recommend it. Here are the few pictures that I got (I had Alexis in the baby carrier the whole time & I realized now that she is moving more it is harder to keep the camera still to get pics).

Natalie's Allergies

We finally took Natalie to an allergist to figure out what has been making her sick. We found out she is allergic to dogs & cats. We pretty much knew she was allergic to dogs, but she also tested positive for cats. We feel bad about Baxter, but he is making her sick. We are relieved to finally know what has been causing her to keep getting sick over the last 7 month. However, we feel bad because it is not Baxter's fault, but we have to do what is best for Natalie. I feel bad for Natalie too because she LOVES dogs & Baxter! Maybe it will be something she grows out of, but if she is anything like me she wont. If anyone knows someone who would like a cat, please let us know.

Alexis Update

Our little Alexis is 6 months old! She is fully rolling over and is getting much better at trying to sit up. We had her check up on Monday and all is well. She is 26 1/2 inches & weighs 15 pounds 3 ounces. She has now had the helmet on for almost 6 weeks. I cannot believe how different her head looks! They have a mold of her head before the helmet that we compare to each week and there is a huge improvement. We got great news last week that they think she will have to only wear the helmet for a total of 7-8 weeks! NO 2nd HELMET!! I am trying not to get my hopes up because it really depends how the next few weeks go, but I am getting excited to think we might be done with this stage. I must say it did not end up to be as bad as I thought. Alexis does not even notice there is anything on her head. The 1st 3 weeks were rough because she would not sleep at all during the day, but after that rough patch she has been back to normal. I will say it does seem to effect her trying to sit up because she moves her head around a lot which then throws off her balance, but I am not to the point of being worried about it. We gave her sweet potatoes this week & she loves them! She has really been a great baby and we feel really lucky to have her in our lives.

Super Bowl

This year we went to our new friend Erin's house for their Super Bowl party. We met the Palmisano's through Natalie's preschool...Lexi (yes her full name is Alexis) is Natalie's school friend. Erin got Alexis Cardinal stickers for her helmet and I must say she looked ADORABLE! Natalie of course was in her don't take my picture mood, but at least we got one of the 4 of us. We had a great time at the party & it was a great game to watch!

So after creating that last post & looking at the pictures I was reminded of something cute Natalie does. If you noticed both of the pictures were colored brown. Well Natalie calls that chocolate and will not color with any other color. It is to the point that a few of the kids in class will collect all of the brown crayons for her and hold them until she gets there. They will go up to her and say "Here are all the chocolate crayons for you Natalie." It is the cutest! So pretty much every art project that gets sent home is done in brown. I don't think too many little girls have brown as their favorite color :-)

On Friday I picked up Natalie's paperwork with the things they did in class. I was amazed to see how well she colored this Lion. When Natalie used to color it was more just scribbling than actually coloring. Well now 6 months into the school year she is trying to fully color the picture and in the lines too! I am sure most kids her age are doing this so I know it is not advance or anything, but it is cool seeing her progressing. Be warned this will be a long post!

December was a very busy, but fun month for us. At the beginning of the month we took a family vacation to Disneyland. It was a lot of fun and it was cool seeing how much Natalie has changed from our last visit. When we went the last time Natalie was not into Disney yet so this time it was different because she knew all the characters. We think she actually enjoyed meeting the characters more than the rides. She would have them sign her autograph book & take a picture with no problems. It was really cute when she met Cinderella the first time because she was star struck! She just sat there looking at her and talking really quite when Cinderella asked her questions. By the next day she was over that because when we saw more princesses she was very excited. We went with our friends the McCleves & Natalie loved hanging out with Guhner & Addison. Alexis did really well for only being 4 months old & we are looking forward to going back in a couple of years when the girls are older. We took so many pictures, but if you click on the picture below it will take you to a small album of pics.

Disneyland Photos

We drove directly from Disneyland to Williams for the Polar Express. If we had to do it again we probably would have separated the trips because it was a bit much for one week. We still had a good time, but we were tired from Disney. Natalie loved seeing Santa and it got us all into the Christmas spirit. There was no snow there when we went, but of course it snowed like crazy less than a week later! Oh well, maybe there will be snow next year.

Now that Alexis is 4 months old the doctor told us to start her on rice cereal. She actually likes it! Time is flying by with her. I can’t believe she is already old enough to start solids!

Then of course there was Christmas. Natalie told Santa she wanted a doll that could walk so Santa brought Barbie’s. This was the 1st year Natalie was really into Christmas. She opened all of her presents, left cookies & milk out for Santa, told us & Santa what she wanted for Christmas & wanted to pick a present for her Daddy. This age is so fun because of days like these! It brings up lots of memories of when we were little which also makes Christmas really fun. We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

Finally, an update on Alexis; At the beginning of the month we had her 4 month appointment. She is doing great! Weighs 13 pounds 2 ounces & is 25 inches long. She is hitting all of her developmental milestones and is a very happy baby. Our pediatrician was a little concerned about the shape of her head so he sent us to a specialist. We went to the specialist and they told us we needed to get her one of those helmet/bands to help reshape her head. I was really hoping they would tell me to try some repositioning exercises, but they told me her head was just shaped that way inside me. So we went back for the appt to get the 3d image of her head to make the helmet & yesterday we got the helmet on. She will have to wear the helmet for 23 hours a day for about 2 to 2.5 months. They told us they think she will need a second helmet & that would have to be worn for 3-4 more months. We will not know that for sure until the end of these 2.5 months. At first I was VERY upset of the thought of Alexis having to wear this thing on her head. She is just too darn cute to have a helmet! Over the last few weeks I have grown used to the idea, but I am just praying she doesn’t need the second helmet. Yesterday was a bit rough because I think she was just uncomfortable. She slept through the night like normal & today she seems ok. I plan on painting & decorating it, but here are some pics of Alexis with her new accessory.

Today Natalie got to enjoy a holiday tradition that Susan does every year...baking her holiday sugar cookies. Susan has been waiting for Natalie to be old enough and this is the 1st year we felt she was ready. Natalie had a great time baking and in a few weeks she will go help decorate the cookies. I know this is a holiday tradition Natalie will look forward to every year!

We hope you all had a great Halloween! Since Natalie had school we started the day by going to the costume parade she had with her class. It was really cute because Natalie would not let go of John's hand the entire parade. Too bad he wasnt dressed like prince charming because that would have been adorable. So instead she was escorted around by the Power Ranger! After the parade we went to her classroom for a party. We had a lot of fun and it was a great way to start the day.

That night we went Trick or Treating around our neighborhood. It was such a different experience this year because she actually understood what to do. She would say Trick or Treat, thank you & Happy Halloween. Last year she followed her friend Jack and let him do all the talking! Alexis being the mellow baby she is just hung out in her Bee costume. I think they reminded her of comfy PJs because she slept most of the night.

Alexis has been smiling for a few weeks now, but I could never get a pic of her doing it. She would smile, but the minute I would lift the camera she stopped. So today I finally got a few shots! She reminds me of Natalie at this age because every time she smiles she sticks out her tongue a bit. Natalie did the same thing!

Tolmachoff Farms

Yesterday we went to Tolmachoff Farms with our playgroup friends. We had a great time at the farm and the weather was AWESOME!! There were 11 kids under the age of 5 so we had our hands full. The farm was nice because it wasn't big so it didn't have large crowds and we didn't have to walk forever between activities. If you live on the west side of town we would HIGHLY recommend this farm!

So it only got up to 90 degress today and it felt great! It was awesome to let Natalie play in the backyard for more than 5 minutes before making her come back inside. Since we were having fun kicking a ball around and using her slide I put Alexis in her bouncer so she could hang out with us. Of course I had to take some cute pics of the girls.

Alexis 2 Month Appointment

Today was Alexis' 2 month well check appointment. She now weighs 10 pounds 8 ounces and is 22.5 inches long. She is getting big fast! Natalie was the same length at 2 months, but weighed 11 pd 4 oz. Alexis needed 5 shots which she screamed, but at least I didn’t cry this time. Natalie has toughened me up!

Wow! Where has the past 2 months gone? Alexis is doing great! She is starting to smile at us and coo more regularly. She is a big eater...eats around every 2 hours during the day. She is doing awesome at night, I usually only have to wake up once a night now. She will eat around 10 pm and wake up again to eat at 4 am. She won’t wake up again until between 7-8 am to eat again. That is when the every 2 hours start. She is filling out in her cheeks and we go on Oct 1st for her 2 month appoint so I will find out how much she weighs. I think Alexis is more of a combination of Bryan and I, but still looks more like him than me. Alexis got to meet all of the Blume Family at the funeral last week. She was great at letting everyone hold her & pass her around! Alexis is much more of a mellow baby than Natalie. Natalie liked people so she also didn’t have a problem with getting passed around, but Alexis doesn’t make much noise. When she does make noise it is not as loud as Natalie was at this age. We are very lucky to have 2 beautiful girls! Here are some pics from the last month..

My Grandma

Last night at about 7:45pm my Grandmother Lonnie Blume passed away at the age of 67. Over the past few years she was between living in Hospice and with my parents battling the effects of years of smoking. She was a fighter. In fact when she went back to the Hospice home on Friday, we thought she would be back home in a few days. It wasn't to be this time and we had to say our goodbyes.

I'll always remember how much she loved me, Christina and her great-grandchilden Natalie and Alexis! I'm very thankful she got to meet Alexis over the last six weeks. I'm also very glad she got to spend so much time with Natalie over the past few months.

I know she's in heaven now with my Grandpa (Pops) and he's once again taking good care of her. We will all miss you dearly Grandma, but will see you again someday in a better place. WE LOVE YOU!

We want to wish a very happy congratulations to our friends Josh & Sarah Miller! The new addition to the Miller family was born yesterday at 4:06 pm. Claire Elyse Miller was 7 pounds 6 ounces and 20 inches long. Mom & baby are doing great! Alexis & Claire are almost exactly 5 weeks apart so it was fun to see them together. Natalie was there too, but she was having too much fun with the Miller boys to be in any pictures!

I used to be into scrapbooking, but ever since Natalie was born & I moved from Queen Creek I have not really done much scrapbooking. The last thing I made was the invites to Natalie's 2nd birthday party (lets remember she is over 3 now). Yesterday was my friend Sarah's baby shower & I needed a card. Instead of buying a card...I actually used my scrapbook stuff to make one!! On top of that I was proud of myself that I used what I had here at home & I didn't buy anything new! I was really happy with way it turned out & I think I did pretty good for not making anything for the last year & a half.

Phoenix Children's Museum

Last month Phoenix finally got their own Children's Museum. We had been wanting to take Natalie & we finally did this past week. I must say I was surprised at how much we all really enjoyed it. Sometimes those types of places do not have much for her age group or she gets bored, but we spent over 2 hours there and she would have stayed longer if I didn't need to go home. The museum is located in Downtown Phoenix and some of the exhibits are not done yet (they think everything will be done by mid Sept), but it is worth the trip.

About 4 months ago Bryan showed Natalie the trailer for the Wall*E movie. So every time after that she would want us to play the trailer over and over again whenever we would get on the computer. Needless to say we have been looking forward to actually taking her to the movie so we wouldn't have to see the same 20 seconds over and over any more! This was the first movie she has seen in the theater and she did awesome! She sat through the whole movie and asked if we could see it again after it was done. Bryan and I enjoyed the movie as well..it was really cute! We would recommend it to anyone, kids or no kids.

After the movie we went to a Gelato place by the theater. Gelato is my new favorite thing of the moment! I love how I am eating ice cream, but it is not as heavy so I don't feel so guilty! It was a great family night out.

Circus!

Last night we took Natalie to the circus for the 1st time. Bryan had never been either so it was a 1st for him as well. I cant say I had been the circus a lot when I was younger, but I do remember going a few times. From what I remember there were many animal acts, clowns, & a few trapeze acts. I always remember going to the circus and it having that animal/zoo smell. We had a fun time, but I dont think Natalie was quite ready for the circus. There were a lot of long clown acts that did not keep her attention and there were not as many animals as I thought. Of course the elephants & tigers where there, but the only other animals were small dogs & horses. She loved the elephants, but she did fall asleep in the middle of the show. Oh well, maybe once both of our girls are much older we will try again!

Natalie has been into dancing lately so I found a beginner ballet class at Anthem's community center. I wasn't expecting much since she is only 3, but I was surprised at how much the little girls did. I must say Natalie probably had the most energy out of all the kids so ballet might not be the best dance choice for her. Maybe some tap or jazz, but she still had a Great time!

As most of you may already know my friend Doug got married on April 19 of this year. When I was moving my office this week I ran across a picture of the first time Doug and I were in tuxes together in April of 1997. The second time would be at my wedding in April 2003 and recently on his wedding day April 2008.

I got a kick out of the comparisons. What a change over 11 years :)

Still Hard at Work

Today we put a second coat of the cream paint on the wall in the new girls room. We also are painting the pink on the bottom and my Dad came over and helped put up the chair rail. Tomorrow we will paint the chair rail and touch up. Once that's complete I have to start moving furniture and get ready to paint my new office...because I don't want a pink office :)

Holy Bees!

So the story of the day surrounds the home my dad is building. It just finished framing last month and had the exterior stucco put on a few weeks ago. Just after that we noticed a few bees near the roof above the front door area. They were going into a quarter sized hole near where the roof line meets the parapet. We didn't think that much of it. In fact my Dad was having my brother attempt to spray the few bees we saw for a few days in a row with some bee killer spray from Home Depot to see if we could get rid of them. It seemed to work at first, but the bees kept coming back. So today my brother called a bee keeper out to the house to take a look and see if they could get rid of the bees. The guy went onto the roof and hit the parapet with a small sledge hammer to open the hole and see how bad the issue was. As soon as he did that hundreds of bees swarmed out of the hole. The bee keeper was okay in his suit, but my brother was about 50 feet away and the bees went after him. Apparently what we thought was a small bee issue was a hive that had grown to 10,000 plus bees. They were also the aggressive Africanized Bees. Matt was stung about 10 times has he jumped off the roof and ran to the street into his truck. The other workers followed suit. There were so many bees it looked like a black cloud above the home. The bee keeper ended up pulling 50 pounds of honey comb and honey from the wall! He also found and killed a queen been which was 3 to 4 inches long! I couldn't believe it..that was like something you'd hear about in the news!

I Hate Painting!

So today we started painting our office room which will become the shared girls room. The room had two walls that were painted brick red, so we had to start by primering those walls. They alone took a full gallon of primer. The stupid label said one coat for dramatic color change....so three coats later we still have touch up to do. We haven't even started painting the actual colors yet and I'm done....so very done.

I'll be posting some before and after pictures in the next few days...but for now I have to go wash the primer paint out of my hair.

Back to the Future Burns to the Ground

This morning, June 1st, a major fire broke out on the back lot at Universal Studios. Reports are still coming in, but it appears that most of the New York brownstone set has been destroyed, as well as the King Kong drive-through attraction, and the TV video vault. Most sadly the courthouse square set used in several movies, including "Back to the Future," was destroyed. As this is my favorite movie, I was quite sad to learn about this. Every 4 or 5 years I made it to Universal and it was always a treat to see this set in person.

Movie sets are made of wood and other easily combustible materials, so over the years, Hollywood has had a history of bad fires on studio back lots. (You will notice that almost all studios have a water tower on the lot, evidence that even back in their earliest days, the studios realized the danger of fires and wanted to be ready to deal with an emergency. There is even a fire station on the studio grounds.)

June Already?!

I can't believe it's already June 1st! Where is the year going? It seems like I was just at a New Year's Party and here we are, in the mist of summer! Well, we are getting ready for it. The boat is ready to hit the lake! We are attempting to plan a few trips with our friends and family this month before Christina gets too big. Hawaii Update

Hello Everyone! I thought it was about time to share some of Hawaii with you. As most of you already know we went on a 10-day Hawaiian cruise this month. We spent 5 of those days at sea and the other 5 in Hawaii. The cruise was a good way to see different islands in Hawaii and find the places we liked the best. In all we went to three of the islands (The Big Island, Maui and Oahu). On the big island we went to Hilo and Kona. Hilo was great to see the Volcano National Park, the rain forest, black sand beaches, and waterfalls. Hilo however was very rainy and not a great place for the beaches. Kona was great for the beaches and had a wonderful brewery that served excellent food and had awesome beer!

We ended in Oahu (Honolulu) and it was fun seeing the city, Waikīkī Beach and Pearl Harbor. However our favorite Island and the one we will be most likely returning to next summer in Maui.

In Maui we loved the beaches. It had excellent snorkeling with huge sea turtles. The city of Lahaina was awesome. My dad, brother and I went fishing one day while Christina, Natalie and my mom went to the aquarium. Overall we saw very little of Maui, but really loved what we did see and want to go back to explore more soon.

Chicago Post Part 3

Hey Everyone. We went on Vacation to Hawaii this month so the posts haven't been happening lately. However, I'm going to try to post a lot more often now. I have to finish the Chicago Posts and then move onto Hawaii. Maybe Christina will even help me post every now and then :)

Well, after a few days of sight seeing we actually made it to the wedding and got to spend time with Doug and Courtney. Their wedding was awesome and I've posted a few pictures below.

We ended up staying two more days after the wedding and went on a boat tour of the city which was awesome. We also got to see Second City Improv Comedy, which is where a lot of famous SNL Alumni got their start. Finally we even made it to the Field Museum and did a little shopping before leaving.

Chicago Post 2

Wow, I can't believe the McCleve's went on the same trip as us and now we have two posts and the McCleve's have none!

Anyway, on Thursday the 17th we ended up walking through the city and Christina found this wonderful authentic Chicago Pizzeria. We had real deep dish and it was great!

After that we headed South to the Sears's Tower. This is the nation's tallest building. It was neat learning about how it came to be and going up to the sky deck (107 stories up!)

After that we made it over to Millennium Park. This place had some neat fountains and a large silver bean which made for some fun picture opportunities.

Over the next few days I'll be posting a few blog's of our recent trip to Chicago! My good friend Doug got married over the weekend and we took in the sites while we were in Chicago. Our friends Eric and Christine McCleve went with us and we had a great time.

On the first day we went to Wrigley Field and saw the Cubs play. It was a fantasic game! It was also the best baseball game experience I've ever had. The fans were all into it and everyone was rooting for the Cubs. Below are a few pictures from out first night. MORE TO COME!

Arizona Science Center

This past Sunday we took Natalie to the Arizona Science Center to see the Titanic Exhibit and play at the other attractions. We all had a great time, and Natalie was so cute in the New Home area. They had a play garden there and she ran up into it and told us she was going to make us dinner :)

For those of you in Phoenix, we highly recommend going to the Titanic Exhibit before it leaves in a few weeks.

Natalie and the New Paint Set

So Natalie got her first paint set for her 3rd birthday a few weeks ago. Mommy and Daddy have just gotten around to opening it for her. Happy Easter Everyone! Easter really did come early this year, I can't believe it has come and gone. Natalie had her share of Easter fun over the past week. It all started last weekend at Anthem days.

She had a great time at the big egg hunt,

followed by sitting in fire trucks,

Then to top off the actual Easter weekend, Natalie had two more egg hunts! One on Friday at a neighborhood party and a second today at my parents house! Lucky girl!We went to a Saturday everning church service as a family and spent today at my parents house having ham and playing games. Great fun!

Preparing for Tomorrow

As some of you already know tomorrow 3/20, is the day we find out whether or not Natalie will be the proud big sister of a brother or a sister. I just realized that tonight is the last night ever I won't know what the sex of my second child is....kinda crazy.

In thinking about this big event I can't help but realize that it doesn't seem that long ago I was a new big brother, to my brother Matthew. I remember loving him and being proud to call him my brother from the moment I saw him. To this day almost 26 years later on March 30th, I couldn't imagine not having him in my life. I'm sure Natalie is going to feel the same way about her new sibling. I'm looking forward to capturing memories of Natalie and her new brother or sister as my parents did many years ago.

Today was Natalie's 3rd Birthday!! Where did the last 3 years go? We had a nice day starting with our regular playgroup. Then we decided to take the boat out for dinner on the lake. Bryan got Natalie a princess fishing pole which Natalie loved casting and reeling back in. It was a great day!

The Things Our Children Do.......

The other night I was in our laundry room & I happened to look down the hall to our bedroom. To my surprise I noticed an arm coming out from underneath our bed! As I got closer I found Natalie dead asleep with her pants & panties down around her ankles!! Why she crawled under our bed & why she had her pants down is beyond me! Of course I had to take pictures of this hilarious finding!
